This Scout Unit developed a project for their members to design, build, plant and help tend, two raised garden beds with seating at their local campsite at Bibby’s Farm. The work also involved some hard landscaping and screening of the car park. The design was to be such that both able and disabled people, irrespective of age, could help to maintain the beds. The intention was to provide a pleasant experience for visitors, and others, but also to provide the designers and builders from the Scout unit with a sense of achievement whilst at the same time learning some new skills.
Fund raising of the anticipated £1350 cost included bag packing at a local supermarket, collecting items for recycling and holding a raffle and some building materials were donated. As this project was to be available to the general community on completion, the Provincial Walsh Trustees were keen to support the Scout Unit and made an award of £750.
